Press, lift and prod your way to better, more lifted skin! I’ve always been a strong proponent of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and one of its basic tenets holds that the body’s vital energy circulates through channels called meridians that have branches connected to bodily functions and organs.
The 3D Gua Sha Face Lift at Body Contour taps on this ancient wisdom and claims to be able to detoxify and firm up the face. Unlike body Gua Sha where the skin is scraped to release unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulate blood flow and healing – there will be no bruising after this facial, thank goodness!
To begin, my therapist first cleansed my face and then applied an exfoliating mask to remove dead skin cells and impurities, followed by a quick extraction. A wooden stick was next used to massage and unblock my facial meridian points to release toxins. This felt slightly achy in a good way – like an acupressure massage.
She then sprayed my face with a serum infused with hyaluronic acid and performed a lifting and contouring treatment using an infra-red massager with nodules. My therapist compared both sides of my face and I noted that the skin on my treated area looked plumped up and my nasolabial line was also less obvious.
To further firm up my mien, a stimulating yet relaxing massage was carried out on my face and chest before a soothing mask applied.
My therapist then did an acupressure massage on my ears with the wooden stick, which was something I’ve never had before and I must say I quite liked it! More massages followed on my décolletage, upper back and arms. To finish off this pampering treatment, a firming mask was applied and I left the spa with visibly toned, hydrated and glowing skin…and just in time for the weekend too!
